The Humboldt County School Board of Trustees voted to increase staff levels next year as  the student population is expected to grow by an estimated 2 percent over the next two years. The increase in staffing levels was one of several issues on the board's agenda on Tuesday (April 8).

Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority Director Kim Petersen told the WCVA Board organizers have decided to invite locals to participate in a truck pull along with a pro-tractor pull in an effort to beef up Sunday attendance.

WINNEMUCCA – It's no secret the county's switch from analogue to digital radio communications was bumpy and continues to be so. However, there are other behind-the-scenes issues that are not a part of the public discussion but plague effective emergency dispatch.

All 18 properties up for sale at Humboldt County's delinquent tax auction were sold on Friday (April 12). According to Treasurer Gina Rackley, the total taxes owed on the properties was $13,819.77, but the total bid revenue was $98,800.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) and all law enforcement agencies statewide take all direct and indirect threats very seriously and will continue to be proactive with security and enforcement strategies.  As a precautionary measure, the DPS is collaborating with federal officials to monitor and implement additional safety efforts after yesterday's tragic event in Boston.
