WINNEMUCCA — The resignation of Patty Herzog from the Winnemucca City Council was announced on Monday and the board is taking immediate action to fill her seat. Those interested in applying for an appointment to the council, and who live within the city boundaries, may write a letter of interest that may include the reasons he/she is interested in filling the vacancy and any background information that makes him/her qualified. The applicant may also want to indicate they have the time to prepare for and attend meetings. The city council will announce the appointment at their April 6 meeting so letters of interest should be sent immediately so an interview can be scheduled. Letters of interest should be sent to the City of Winnemucca, c/o Steve West, 90 W. Fourth St. Herzog was prevented by term-limit legislation from seeking reelection. Whoever is appointed to fill the seat will only serve until the November elections. The appointee will have the option of campaigning for the position when city filing dates open in August. Herzog took the opportunity to thank the voters and residents of Winnemucca for the many years she was given to serve. She also thanked her fellow councilmen, and those councilmen who have moved on to other projects, who shared her passion for public service. |
