NDEP extends comment period on Jungo's operating permit Print

WINNEMUCCA — The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has extended the comment period on the operating permit for the proposed Jungo Road Landfill to January 30, 2012.  Written comments must be received by 5 p.m. on that date.

From the NDEP Public Notice:

The Administrator of the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection gives notice, under the Nevada Revised Statutes 444.440 through 444.620, inclusive, and under the Nevada Administrative Code 444.570 through 444.7499, inclusive, that the Division has received a request to issue a permit from the following applicant:

 Nevada Land and Resources Inc. (Jungo Landfill)

The Administrator is constrained to either issue the permit or deny the request.  The Administrator is issuing this notice of intent to issue the Permit.

The applicant or any interested person may submit written or oral comment(s) on this proposed intent by the Administrator regarding permit issuance …. Comments must be submitted in writing no later than 5 p.m. on January 30, 2012.

The Draft Permit and Fact Sheet are available for review at the above address.  A statement responding to written comments will be issued. Copies of the statements will be sent to the applicant, person(s) who submitted the written comments, and all other persons who specifically request, in writing, a copy of the statement.  A copy of the statement will be made available for public viewing at a location to be determined by the Administrator.  The Administrator may extend the period for public comment as necessary.

Within 30 days after the end of the public review period, the Administrator will either issue or deny a permit to operate the disposal site, or may modify, or place conditions on, the permit issued.
