WINNEMUCCA — The Humboldt County Commissioners voted to hire an environmental consultant to assist with the review of Jungo Land and Investment’s application to NDEP for the construct of a class 1 landfill.

The vote occurred at Tuesday’s (Nov. 15) special meeting called for the purpose.

The board will retain G. Fred Lee & Associates for the purpose of providing a technical review and evaluation of Jungo’s application. Additionally, the company will provide a post-closure risk analysis of the landfill.

With public comments on the application scheduled for Dec. 1 in Winnemucca, and the close of public comments scheduled for December 16, time is of the essence.  However, representatives of the company have indicated they could get started on the project immediately.

The commission authorized $10,000 for the project.
