WINNEMUCCA — The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has announced its intention to issue the permit for the proposed Jungo Road landfill.  The draft permit is now available for public review and comments.

The intention to issue the permit is not the final determination.  The final determination will be made within 30 days of the public review period ending.  At that time the NDEP will either issue the permit, deny the permit, or may modify or place additional conditions on the permit.

A public hearing was scheduled for Thursday, December 1 at the Winnemucca Convention Center from 6 – 9 p.m.  At that time members of the public may comment on the intent to issue the permit or on the draft permit itself.

The public may also submit written comments to: Jon Taylor, PE CEM, Division of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Waste Management, 901 S. Stewart St., Suite 4001, Carson City Nevada 89701-5249. All comments must be received by December 16, 2011 5 p.m.

The comment period may be extended if needed.
