WINNEMUCCA — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Winnemucca District, Humboldt River Field Office is seeking public input as it initiates the Environmental Assessment (EA) process for the proposed mine expansion plan for the Coeur Rochester Mine, located 20 miles northeast of Lovelock, in Pershing County. Two public meetings will be held and comments accepted until Dec. 11, 2009. Coeur Rochester, Inc. (CRI) submitted Plan Amendment 8 to the Rochester Mine Plan of Operations to the BLM. The proposed action to be analyzed in the EA is the resumption of mining and leaching operations at the mine. This EA will only analyze potential impacts from the proposed action and the expansion of mining related disturbances. A thorough analysis for mine closure will occur at a later date. The BLM will hold two public open-houses on the proposal: • Monday, Nov. 30, 6-8 p.m., at the Winnemucca Convention Center West Hall, 50 W. Winnemucca Blvd. in Winnemucca. • Tuesday, Dec. 1, 6-8 p.m., at the Lovelock Community Center, 820 6th Street in Lovelock.
