WINNEMUCCA —Making one last swing through rural Nevada before Tuesday's primary election, Sue Lowden, candidate for US Senate, attended Sunday’s mule races to meet with Humboldt County voters.
Lowden told SPJ she just wanted to encourage voters who didn’t take advantage of early voting to go to the polls on Tuesday (June 8).
Lowden said there are still a lot of folks who haven’t voted and to that end she made stops in Wellington, Fallon, Winnemucca, and planned to be in Elko Sunday night to promote herself as the best candidate for the job among those vying to be Nevada's next Senator.
She said as she meets with rural voters they point to two major concerns: water rights and wilderness concerns. She said, “They want my assurances I’ll be on their side on both issues.”
The top vote getter after Tuesday’s primary will go on to face Harry Reid.
Lowden commented, “There’s only one person Harry Reid’s afraid of in November .. and that’s me." She added it's the reason Reid has spent $100,000 in negative advertising against her campaign.
Voting starts at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8 and ends at 7 p.m. Voters in Paradise Valley and Orovada should vote at their assigned polling place. Voters in Winnemucca vote at the Winnemucca Convention Center.
SPJ will post the results of the election as soon as they become available. |
