U.S. Senators John Ensign and Harry Reid sent their condolences to the families of the two men shot at the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse earlier today. One security officer was killed and a deputy US Marshal was injured in the shootout. Senator John Ensign “Today’s shooting was tragic. The two men who were shot, a court security officer and a Deputy U.S. Marshal, came to work today to do what they did every other day. They were protecting the public and those working within the federal courthouse, including members of my staff. Unfortunately, today’s events were unlike any other. The court security officer lost his life and the Marshal was injured in the line of duty. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to these two courageous Nevadans and their families. I would like to extend my gratitude and praise for the law enforcement agencies that have joined forces to secure the area and ensure the safety of employees in the building.” Senator Harry Reid “My thoughts are with the victims of today’s shooting and their families. The law enforcement personnel who protect the courthouse put their lives at risk every day to keep the people who are inside safe and I greatly appreciate their service.”
