Commissioners elect new chairman Print

Jim French and Mike Bell WINNEMUCCA — As is their custom at the start of a New Year, the Humboldt County Commissioners elected a new chairman at their meeting on Tuesday (Jan. 3).  Mike Bell was nominated and the motion passed unanimously. He and outgoing chairman Garley Amos swapped seats.  Commissioner Jim French was elected vice chairman and will run meetings in Bell’s absence.

Commissioner Dan Cassinelli praised Garley for his leadership over the past year. For his part, Amos said he enjoyed the role of chairman.

The commissioners will retain their committee assignments.

Commissioner French:  NevadaWorks Board, Landfill Committee, Hospital Board, Humboldt River Water Basin alternate.

Commissioner Cassinelli:  Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority, Humboldt Foundation, Regional Transportation Commission.

Commissioner Fransway: LEPC, Welfare and Indigent Services Committee, Board of Equalization, Regional Transportation, NACO Board, POOL/PACT Delegate, SLUPAC Representative.

Commissioner Bell:  Humboldt Development Authority, NevadaWorks Board Alternate, Debt Management Commission.

Commissioner Amos:  Water Canyon Advisory Committee,  Humboldt River Basin Water Authority, Landfill Committee.

The commissioners serve as alternates to the NACO Board, as well.
