New troops join local agencies Print

Zach Petersen The rural areas of Humboldt County will soon have two new officers on patrol.  Zach Petersen, of Orovada, shown left, has joined the Nevada Highway Patrol.  Trooper Petersen will patrol the Orovada area.  Petersen said he has always been intersted in a career in law enforcement.  Formerly he was employed at the NDF Honor Camp. 

 

Chukuma Jones Chukuma Jones, of Winnemucca, was recently sworn in and will serve with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office in the McDermitt area.  Deputy Jones is shown at right receiving his badge from Sheriff Ed Kilgore. Petersen and Jones must complete P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standards and Training) and field training.  They are expected to begin patrolling in late summer.
