From Northern Nevada Business Weekly: Nevada Geothermal may miss payment on debt obligation

Nevada Geothermal Power Inc. said last week it may not be able to meet a year-end debt payment on its Blue Mountain geothermal plant near Winnemucca.

The company said power production from the plant fell short during the third quarter and studies indicate that the temperature of hot water from wells at Blue Mountain will continue to decline without the development of new wells.

Spotlight on small business: Local resident introduces Initial Outfitters to Nevada

WINNEMUCCA — When local resident Shari Hansen was first invited to a friend’s online party for Initial Outfitters, she was hesitant.  A self-described tomboy, at that time she didn’t wear a lot of jewelry.

However, she kept an open mind and attended the party. It wasn’t long before she was hooked and interested in bringing Initial Outfitters to northern Nevada.  Now an independent consultant for the company, Hansen is promoting Initial Outfitters as the place to pick up the perfect gift or to treat yourself.

Ruby Pipeline starts delivery of natural gas

Reno--The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has authorized Ruby Pipeline, LLC (Ruby) to start service on the Ruby Pipeline. The pipeline is a 42-inch diameter, 678-mile interstate natural gas pipeline that crosses 368 miles of Federal land beginning near Opal, Wyo., through northern Utah and northern Nevada, and ending near Malin, Ore.

Sisters prepare to open new bakery

WINNEMUCCA — Two sisters are preparing to open a new bakery on Winnemucca Blvd. (shown).  Ceci’s Panaderia has been the dream of Rosa Gomez -- and her sister intends to help her succeed.

Amelia Jimenez said, “This is my sister’s dream and I want that to come out good for her.  I want it to come out right.”

Cyanco completes expansion

HOUSTON -- Cyanco announced today that it has completed expansion projects at its two sodium cyanide plants in Winnemucca, Nevada increasing total capacity from 40,000 tonnes per year to 70,000 tonnes per year.

This completes an effort initiated two years ago to ensure Cyanco's ability to supply increasing demand from its customers in the United States and Canada.  Cyanco operates two independent plants at its Winnemucca facility.  The first plant began operations in 1990 and the second plant in 1997.
