The following sentencings were the results of hearings held in the UnionTownship Justice Court.
Thursday, Jan. 19
- Alred Mauer was sentenced for misdemeanor possession of a drug which may not be introduced into interstate commerce to pay fees totaling $1127 within three months. The defendant has the option of buying the vehicle confiscated by Humboldt County for $1,000 plus storage fees. The charge was amended from felony possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales.
- Michael L. Swatman was sentenced for misdemeanor first-offense DUI to 90 days in jail with 88 days stayed and credit for time served; fines totaling $712 to be paid within 60 days; DUI school to be completed by April 19; Victim Impact Panel to be completed by March 17; 26 sessions of alcohol counseling with credit for sessions previously attended since October 2011; breath interlock device for 1 year; six months of alcohol monitoring bracelet or until successfully completed 26 sessions of alcohol counseling.
- Sergio Perez was sentenced for misdemeanor first-offense domestic battery to fines totaling $327 due by April 19; 30 days in jail with 24 days stayed, six days to do and credit for six days time served; 24 hours of community service to be completed by May 1; six months of domestic battery counseling to be enrolled by March 2; all conditions must be completed by Oct. 1.
Friday, Jan. 20
- Thomas James Shalkowitz was sentenced for misdemeanor battery to pay fines totaling $512. The charge was amended from felony battery with substantial bodily harm.
Monday, Jan. 23
- Bernardo Corona-Guizar was sentenced for misdemeanor disturbing the peace to pay fines totaling $182 in addition to a $100 bench warrant fee and a $100 FTA fee.
Tuesday, Jan. 24
- Alonzo Ray Smart was sentenced for battery to 180 days in jail with 150 days stayed and seven days credit for time served and 23 days to be served by March 14; orders to stay away from the victim and the victim’s family; orders to pay $720 restitution to the victim through the DA’s Office by April 24.
- Eduardo Ramirez was sentenced for misdemeanor second-offense operating a motor vehicle without a license to pay fines totaling $332 with $150 stayed on condition the defendant completes his GED by June 2012. The defendant was further sentenced for misdemeanor loitering at school to pay fines totaling $182 by March 23 and the bench warrant was quashed.
