JUSTICE COURT: Two cases bound over for trial; man sentenced to max for domestic battery

Zach Campbell WINNEMUCCA — Three defendants with serious charges hanging over their heads were in Union Township Justice Court on Tuesday (May 1).

The case involving Zach Campbell, 21, charged with sexual assault, a category A felony, was bound over to district court for trial; Zane Kelly, charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, a category B felony, had his case bound over to district court for trial; and Steven Earl Crutchfield was sentenced to serve the maximum sentence for domestic battery.

DA’s Office comes out swinging against motion to dismiss

WINNEMUCCA — If lawyers representing Quintin Boyles hoped the Humboldt County DA’s Office would back down from their vigorous prosecution of the defendant after a motion for dismissal of the charges was filed on Monday (April 9) – they hoped for too much.

In his response filed with the court on Tuesday (April 10), Deputy DA Roger Whomes did not apologize, deny the allegations, or back down. Instead, he raised questions about the defense’s own conduct and expanded on the very things they complained of.
