The following were the results of arraignment and sentencing hearings before Judge Richard Wagner of the 6th Judicial District Court - Department 1 on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2012
- Kenneth Dale Williams Jr. pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and was sentenced to pay a $2,000 fine. The charge stem from an incident in which Williams took a vehicle from a convenient store without the owner’s consent.
- Kimberly Ann Gaitan, of Boise, Idaho, pleaded not guilty to transporting a controlled substance, a category B felony and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, a category D felony. The case was transferred to Department 2 and will be consolidated with the co-defendant’s case. The defendant was arrested following a July 2011 Interstate 80 traffic stop near milemarker 216 in which investigators from DPS – Investigation allegedly recovered methamphetamine and marijuana from the vehicle.
- Charles Alan Evans was sentenced for receiving/possessing/withholding stolen property, a category C felony, to a 60-month term of probation with an underlying sentence of 24-60 months in prison. On the additional charge of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to commit burglary, the defendant was sentenced to serve a 35-month term of probation, to be served consecutively to count 1, with an underlying sentence of 12 months in the Humboldt County Detention Center. Evans was arrested in connection to the Sept. 2010 burglary of a Paradise Valley residence in which mini classic cars and handguns were stolen.
- The case involving Jose Juan Paniagua, charged with gross misdemeanor aggravated stalking, was continued.
- The case involving Cody Jacob Wheeler, charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, was continued.
