WINNEMUCCA — An Orovada man was arrested Sept. 11 on allegations of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14. According to Undersheriff Curtiss Kull, the suspect was identified as Emmanuel Barrera-Gonzalez, 22, who was booked into the Humboldt County Detention Center on $500,000 bail. The investigation was conducted by HSCO Detective Jim Loveless who "received information concerning the possible sexual assault of a child." Kull explained the information came from a resident of Winnemucca and based on that information Detective Loveless contacted law enforcement in Oregon. Kull noted, "Loveless learned that authorities in Oregon did in fact have information from a 12-year-old girl, who was now located in their state, which alleged that a sexual offense had occured to her while she was in Orovada last February." Barrera-Gonzalez was arrested in Orovada following an investigation by Detective Loveless. Kull concluded, "Additional arrests related to this case may be made in the immediate future."
