WINNEMUCCA — A traffic infraction on Interstate 80 resulted in the seizure of three to four pounds of marijuana and the arrest of a New York man for allegedly transporting a controlled substance. The stop occurred about 47 miles east of town Wednesday (June 2) evening.

Matthew Sieman, 32, of New York, was eastbound on Interstate 80, traveling from Lake Tahoe, California to New York, when Sgt. Lee Dove, of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, observed that Sieman’s rear window was completely obstructed. He also allegedly observed the driver make an improper turn.

Dove initiated a traffic stop at about 6 p.m. and was joined at the scene by Deputy Cory Allen. Sieman allegedly admitted he had marijuana in the car and a subsequent search turned up three to four pounds of marijuana.

Sieman was arrested and charged with transporting a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several traffic infractions. Bail was set at $20, 831. Having made bail, Sieman is no longer in custody.
