New officers at the WPD

Three new Winnemucca Police Department officers were recently sworn in by Mayor Di An Putnam at Winnemucca City Hall.

Officer T.J. Pinkston was sworn in on December 23.  Pinkston brings with him seven years experience with the Nevada Highway Patrol.  He also has a BS in Public Health and is currently working on his Masters Degree.  Pinkston served with the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman attached to the Fleet Marine Force – Rapid Response Team before his law enforcement career.

Four clerks cited for allegedly selling alcohol to minors

On Friday December 23, 2011 the Winnemucca Police Department in cooperation with the Humboldt County Juvenile Department conducted an enforcement operation to determine if businesses were selling alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21.

Silva addresses Chamber of Commerce

WINNEMUCCA — Chief of Police Eric Silva was the guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday (Nov. 8). He took questions from the members and updated them on some of the changes at the Winnemucca Police Department since he was appointed.

Wambolt retiring after term expires

WINNEMUCCA — Justice of the Peace Gene Wambolt recently confirmed he will not be seeking reelection and plans to retire at the end of his term.

However, he has enjoyed the law and plans to apply to the Nevada Supreme Court to work as a Senior Judge. Not only would that allow him to hear a case every once in a while, but he could continue to perform weddings.  He estimated he has married about 500 people since taking office.

WPD tests potential officer candidates

WINNEMUCCA — With two new officers slated for hire, the Winnemucca Police Department recently hosted the first stage of the hiring process.

Potential candidates met up at the WPD building on Saturday (Oct. 22) to test their physical fitness, take the written portion of the test, and then be interviewed.

Silva opens up hiring process to media

WINNEMUCCA — The Winnemucca Police Department is in the process of hiring two new officers, and the media has been invited to observe.

Police Chief Eric Silva said he was aware of some concerns in the public that perhaps the hiring process wasn’t stringent enough.  For that reason, he’s sharing the process with the public.

WPD announces promotion of Sgt. Lynn

The Winnemucca Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Officer Jeff Lynn to the rank of Sergeant.  Sergeant Lynn was sworn into Office by Mayor Di An Putnam at a ceremony at Winnemucca City Hall on October 17, 2011.
