Hi, I’m Forrest Newton, director of Better Life Coaching of Winnemucca, Nevada and no, I’m not talking about some mystic look inside yourself that you can get to by humming. Although if that helps you to relax fine. However, what I’m talking about are those things that you want to accomplish some day, but some day never arrives and sometimes it seems further and further away. For those people who have reached that point in their lives maybe it’s time to move on. By move on I am talking about taking some steps toward your goals. Sometimes the reason we don’t ever reach our goals is because we fail to take that first step. There are several reasons why we don’t. We’re scared of failing. Sometimes we’re scared of succeeding. Much of the time it’s because we haven’t been able to find the time. We let the immediate detour us from the road that leads to our goal. We let the routine absorb our time. And we just get frustrated. Let me suggest something that might be of help. Get a sheet of paper and write on it a goal that has been difficult for you to reach so far. Be very very specific. Don’t just write “I want to visit Paris.” Instead write something like “I would like to visit Paris, Texas in the spring of 2010 to attend the cattle sale on May 14.” You now have a specific location (Were you thinking Paris, France?). A specific date and a specific reason. You want to be in Paris, Texas on May 14, 2010, because there is a cattle sale you want to attend. Now you can begin to put together a plan to get there.
