WINNEMUCCA — A boil water order issued for Gold Country Estates water users remains in place as of Friday (March 5) afternoon.  The Nevada Department of Environmental Protection is awaiting the results of recent tests before lifting the order, the agency reported. The order may remain in place until Monday.

Grass Valley residents on the system were informed Sunday (Feb. 28) that tests performed two days before tested positive for E. coli.  They were advised to boil their water for one minute before drinking it, using it in food preparation, or for brushing teeth.

Students at Grass Valley Elementary School were provided with bottled water.

This was the second boil water order issued within the last three months to Gold Country Estates water users due to E. coli.
