WVFD releases statement on fatal structure fire Print

Winnemucca City Fire Department was dispatched to 7042 N. Estate Rd for the report of a structure fire on Sunday October 23, 2011 at approximately 2:30 am.   On arrival firefighters observed a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames. 

According to Fire Chief Alan Olsen, it took firefighters approximately fifteen minutes before they could make entry into the home.  Once inside the residence firefighters located four deceased people. 

Once the fire was out the scene was turned over to the Winnemucca Police Department for investigation.  The WPD called in the Washoe County Crime Lab and the Nevada State Fire Marshal's office to assist with the investigation. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the names of the deceased are not being released at this time. There is no sign of criminal activity or foul play.
