WINNEMUCCA — Interstate 80 at Golconda Pass was closed for several hours Sunday evening after a semi truck transporting US Mail crashed through a guard rail and down a long embankment.  According to Sgt. Greg Johnson, of the Nevada Highway Patrol, responding troopers found the semi hanging precariously with a person trapped inside.  The decision was made to close the Interstate while tow trucks stabilized the semi to keep it from falling any further. Once secured, rescue crews extricated the trapped person.

The snow storm created slick roads and poor visibility.  Johnson said there were approximately seven crashes on the Interstate in the immediate area Sunday evening.
