cow_1WINNEMUCCA — Access to I-80 was limited Monday morning after a semi-truck toppled over -- trapping a load of cows inside.  The driver of the rig wasn't hurt. Several area citizens were called to help get the spooked cows out of the semi and into another trailer.

Because fluid leaked from the semi, the Winnemucca Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene.  However, the fuel tanks did not rupture.

Although a few of the cows escaped the semi through a hole in the trailer roof, there were still a number of spooked cows trapped inside.  Humboldt General Hospital Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene with the jaws of life, which enlarged the hole to allow the rest of the cows out (below).
