WINNEMUCCA — Humboldt General Hospital EMS sent a critical care transport ambulance to Banner Churchill Community Hospital -- whose ambulances were out of the area assisting REMSA with the deadly crash at the National Air Race in Reno on Friday (Sept. 16) HGH EMS Director Pat Songer said local resources were requested as part of a mutual aid agreement. The critical care ambulance was out of the area for about six hours. Songer explained the agreement is mutually beneficial to Humboldt and Churchill Counties. Humboldt County has, thankfully, not seen a major disaster that would require additional resources. However, should there be a major incident locals would be thankful for the agreement that brought in resources needed for a major response. Additionally, should local EMS be sent east during a major incident, Churchill County would send resources here to cover while HGH EMS was out of the area. Songer said he was grateful HGH EMS has the resources necessary to assist neighboring counties during disasters.
