A fight on campus caused School Resource Officer Jeff Dawson to call for assistance and every available law enforcement officer in Winnemucca responded with lights and sirens to Lowry High School, which may have caused concern among parents -- especially considering the number of tragic circumstances at schools across the country in recent months. However, the situation was quickly controlled. The incident occured shortly before noon today (Tuesday, April 9).

According to District Superintendent Dr. Dave Jensen, events began when district personnel received a tip that a former LHS student planned to enter campus with the intent to beat up one of the students.  The student who was believed to be the target was secured while school personnel combed the area looking for the suspect.
